Netball Victoria is delighted to announce the Victorian Fury and State Teams coaching panels for 2017.
Following an extensive search, Leesa Gallard has been appointed as Head Coach of the Victorian Fury who will challenge in the Australian Netball League (ANL).
“I am really honoured to work in such a high-level program and to continue such a strong legacy that the Victorian ANL programs have had,” said Gallard, who is a testament to the opportunities that the Victorian Pathway creates.
Gallard brings to the Fury program a wealth of experience having spent the past 10 years working within the Netball Victoria High Performance programs.
Throughout that time Gallard has been involved in all of Netball Victoria’s pathway programs including four National Netball League underage titles, Academy and State Teams, plus School Sport Victoria, ANL, Netball Victoria Talent Squads and Zone Academy programs.
Joining Gallard in a new-look Fury coaching panel will be Elissa Kent (Assistant Coach) and Guy Keane (Apprentice Coach).
Kent, a former Melbourne Vixen, joins the Fury after winning the Victorian Netball League Championship Premiership in her first year as Head Coach at Melbourne University Lightning, while Keane worked under Gallard with the 21/Under State Team this year.
In addition to the Fury Coaching Announcements, the 2017 Victorian 19/U and 17/U State Coaching panels have been selected.
Kaylea McQuade has been appointed as Head Coach of the 19/Under State Team. She will be supported by Lyndell Bruce (Assistant Coach) and Christie Barnes, a former Victorian Fury athlete (Apprentice Coach).
Jacinta Todd takes on the role as Head Coach of the 17/Under State Team. Todd will be supported by Melanie Savage (Assistant Coach) and Kathleen Knott, a former Melbourne Vixen and Victorian Fury athlete (Apprentice Coach).
