Netball Victoria is proud to share it has been awarded Platinum recognition in the 2026 Pride in Sport Index Awards. This achievement reflects Netball Victoria’s continued commitment to building a sport where everyone feels welcome, safe and included.
Building on three consecutive years of Gold status, the move to Platinum marks a significant step forward. As one of the five organisations to nationally to receive this rating, it recognises the work happening across policies, programs, leadership and culture to strengthen LGBTQ+ inclusive environments across the game.
This commitment is further demonstrated by our Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, Tanya Gamble. She was named one of four national finalists for LGBTQ+ Ally of the Year at the Pride in Sport Awards 2026, acknowledging her leadership and advocacy across Netball Victoria and the Melbourne Vixens.
Within Netball Victoria, she has played a key role in strengthening LGBTQ+ inclusion across the organisation and wider community, including co-authoring a Memorandum of Understanding with the Queer Sporting Alliance, establishing the Netball Victoria Ally Program, and coordinating non-binary inclusion training for staff.
She leads Netball Victoria’s Pride Working Group and has supported initiatives such as the Melbourne Vixens “Everyone Belongs” Round, helping ensure netball remains a welcoming space for all.
This milestone reflects years of sustained effort to embed inclusion across all areas of netball. Progress has been supported through ongoing partnerships with organisations including RACV, Queer Sporting Alliance, Proud 2Play and Pride in Sport, helping ensure netball remains a place for everyone, both on and off the court.
