Participation in the Netball Victoria pathway offers valuable opportunities for athletes to progress their sporting careers to the next level.
State Titles deliver an exciting and highly competitive environment for more than 600 emerging athletes, providing players with the opportunity to be talent identified. Selection through the talent identification process can lead to opportunities to represent the Victorian State Team, take part in the Elevate program, and showcase skills to Victorian Netball League clubs.
Molly Moylan, one of our Victorian athletes, first caught attention at the State Titles in 2023 when she was talent identified (TID). Since then, she has spent the past two years representing the Victorian State team, currently playing in the 19U squad. This season marks an exciting new chapter for Molly as she takes the court for the first time in the Victorian Netball League with the City West Falcons.
Molly began playing netball at seven, motivated by her competitive nature, her love of sport, and growing up watching her mum and older sister play. Her mum, Kelli, has coached her for much of her netball journey, particularly throughout her early junior years.
The Netball Victoria pathway has guided Molly to grow as a player, providing her with opportunities to train in the Talent Academy, Elevate and State Team programs while receiving coaching from many different high-profile coaches who have helped her to grow as a player and a person.
Representing her local club, the Wodonga Bulldogs, Molly is a great example of how regardless of location, whether metropolitan or regional, all athletes are provided with the opportunity to progress to state team level.
“Being from Wodonga, getting the opportunity to travel to Melbourne to train has been extremely helpful for my netball,” she said.
“When I was TID I was excited for an opportunity to put myself out there and trial for the talent academy and state programs as well as to have training under new coaches and improve my netball.”
“Being a part of the state team has allowed me to be in high performance environments on and off the court. I get to train with athletes from all around Victoria and be coached by some of the best coaches which allows me to learn and improve as a player and perform to the best of my ability.”
She remains motivated to advance her netball career with the VNL season launch next Wednesday 11 March.
