June is Pride Month, a celebration of our LGBT+ community, and as the month comes to an end Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) member Danny Loats highlighted the importance of inclusion within netball.
"I think LGBT+ representation in netball is so important because young LGBT+ people in our sport need strong role models, who are in positions of power and can act on our behalf,” said Loats.
The YAC member also emphasised the need to create a stronger netball community and ensuring that the LGBT+ community are represented at every level of the sport.
“I am passionate about the LGBT+ community’s role in our sport because netball is a place for all, and LGBT+ people are involved at every level; shaping our sport for the better, as players, umpires, coaches and administrators.
“Inclusion makes the netball community stronger, and I am proud of LGBT+ people’s contribution to our sport, especially in the men’s and mixed netball space.”
