A record field of 12 All Abilities teams will contest the 2016 State Titles this Sunday 9 October at Eagle Stadium in Werribee.
Defending Reserve Division Champions, the Parkville Netball Association are looking forward to being involved at the much-loved annual competition once again.
“It is always a pleasure to be involved in the State Titles,” Parkville Head Coach Josh Meldrum said, adding: “Parkville is moving up a division so we are looking forward to the challenge ahead.”
All Abilities Netball provides the chance for people with a physical or intellectual disability to participate directly or indirectly in local clubs and associations. The State Titles provide an opportunity for participants to build on their knowledge and skills in a fun and inclusive environment.
Despite the emphasis of the State Titles being on development and teamwork, Meldrum believes the competition is a chance for participants to bring out their competitive spirit.
“It just gives participants a chance to compete – everyone has that natural competitive nature to them and it’s a good chance to express their competitive side amongst people who have disabilities as well,” he said.
Meldrum is optimistic that his team have what it takes to win but “more importantly it is about seeing how the team overcome the challenges they face on court”.
The 2016 State Titles will take place this weekend at the state-of-the-art Eagle Stadium in Werribee, thanks to a two-year partnership with the Wyndham City Council and Western Leisure Service.
