The 2026 School Championships have wrapped up after a record-breaking year, with 520 teams from 175 different schools competing across the event.
With teams travelling from all parts of Victoria, the championships brought together students from across the state for a celebration of school netball, with seven titles decided across Primary, Junior, Intermediate and Senior competitions.
This year also marked a significant milestone for the competition, with the introduction of the first ever Male Finals Day. Following two male qualifying days, the Junior Boys, Intermediate Boys and Senior Boys competitions joined the girls' competitions on Finals Day.
Finals day delivers plenty of close contests
The finals produced a number of tight contests, with three of the seven grand finals decided by just one or two goals.
The Primary and Junior Girls finals both finished with two-goal margins, with Leongatha Primary School taking out the Primary title after defeating Ngarri Primary School 12-10. Catholic Ladies College also finished on top in the Junior Girls competition, overcoming Rowville Secondary College 12-10 to claim the championship.
The Intermediate Girls final was one of the tightest contests of the day, with just one goal separating Goulburn Valley Grammar School and Marist-Sion College Warragul. Goulburn Valley Grammar School held on to secure a 14-13 victory and take home the Intermediate Girls title.
In the Senior Girls final, Carey Baptist Grammar School produced a strong performance to defeat The Geelong College 16-9 and finish the championships as Senior Girls winners.
A new chapter for the boys' competition
The inaugural Male Finals Day saw three champions crowned across the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Boys competitions.
Bass Coast College took out the Junior Boys title, defeating Iona College 12-8, before Western Heights College Navy secured the Intermediate Boys championship with a thrilling 16-15 victory over St Pauls Anglican Grammar School.
The Senior Boys final saw South Oakleigh College produce a strong performance to defeat Chairo Christian School (Pakenham) 19-8.
The victory was particularly significant for South Oakleigh College, who secured the Senior Boys title for the second consecutive year.
A record-breaking School Championships
The 2026 event featured two more competition qualifying days than last year, helping accommodate a record-breaking 520 teams.
With 175 different schools represented and teams from all parts of Victoria making it through to Finals Day, the School Championships showcased the breadth of school netball across the state.
From the first ever Male Finals Day to a number of thrilling one-goal finishes, the 2026 School Championships provided a memorable conclusion to another big year of school netball.
