Netball Victoria is saddened by the recent passing of Life Member, June Moore on 29 January 2025.
June’s extraordinary contributions to the sport, particularly in the development of the umpiring pathway, have left an indelible mark on netball in Victoria.
A true trailblazer in the netball community, June’s influence extended across decades.
She was a Founding Member, Life Member, and President of Slater Reserve Netball Association (formerly known as Nunawading Married Women’s Netball Association), and from the 1980s, played an instrumental role in nurturing and mentoring countless umpires at Waverley. Her guidance was a cornerstone of the Waverley umpiring program, where her mentorship helped shape many into highly respected officials.
June was an All-Australian Umpire, a well-respected umpire educator, and the proud recipient of the WNNA Service Award.
Her devotion to the sport and its development earned her the distinction of Life Member with Netball Victoria, inducted in 1993 as a well-deserved recognition for her years of dedication and service.
Her legacy within the netball community will be forever cherished, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of working alongside her, learning from her, and experiencing her passion for the game.
A funeral service to celebrate June’s life will be held on Friday 7 February at 10.00am at William Matthews Funeral Home, 45 Cave Hill Road, Lilydale.
