The Independence Australia Victorian State All Abilities team will travel to Adelaide this weekend, competing against New South Wales and South Australia for the 2015 Marie Little OAM Shield.
Established in 2013, the Marie Little OAM Shield provides an opportunity for netballers with an intellectual disability to compete at a national tournament.
Victoria won the title in 2013 and managed to defend it with a one-goal win over New South Wales at the Waverley Netball Centre in 2014.
Head coach Janet Parker is looking forward to the upcoming tournament and says the team has improved a lot since training began in February.
“The team is looking really promising this year.”
“Training sessions have been very specific and each player has responded well to their task,” said Parker.
This year, the tournament has been scheduled to coincide with the Australian Netball League season. Similar to the Victorian State All Abilities team, Victorian Fury have been undefeated champions since 2013.
The Victorian Fury side will remain at Netball SA Stadium after their match against Southern Force to cheer for the Victorian State All Abilities netballers.
