Netball Victoria would like to congratulate Sharni Lambden and Jacqui Newton on being selected by Netball Australia in the combined SIS/SAS squad on Wednesday.
The Victorian pair will contest August’s International series in Canberra against the Australian 20/U Squad and teams from New Zealand and England.
The athletes in the team, who will be coached by former Melbourne Vixens mentor and current Netball Tasmanian High Performance Manager Julie Hoornweg, have been selected by Netball Australia’s National Pathway Panel.
“Some of the athletes are eligible for selection for next year’s Netball World Youth Cup squad and could use this tournament to push their case for inclusion in that squad,” Netball Australia’s High Performance Pathway General Manager Stacey West.
“We’re eager to see how these athletes perform in a competitive international environment. This is valuable experience for them.”
The series will be played between 11-14 August at Netball Australia’s Centre of Excellence.
