It’s been a scintillating week of action at the Australian Netball Championships with Victorian Fury’s four pool games done and dusted. Take a look at some of the key stats from each game.
Game 1 – Fury (66) defeated Sunshine Coast Lightning (58)
The Fury got their 2022 campaign off to a hot start with a number of standout players throughout the game. Emma Ryde impressed under the post with 49/53 sitting at 92%, and Olivia Lewis starred down back picking up six gains – four of which were intercepts. Ruby Barkmeyer had a game to remember amassing a team-high 26 goal assists.
Game 2 – Fury (55) defeated Southern Force (54)
Ryde continued her hot form in game two, only missing one shot (35/36) at 97% as Barkmeyer managed 100% nailing 12 straight. Maggie Caris was a force to be reckoned with in goal keeper, collecting three intercepts, two gains and four rebounds over three quarters. Hannah Mundy led the charge for centre pass receives with 16 to her name and Tayla Honey accrued 14 goal assists.
Game 3 – Fury (58) defeated Tasmania (51)
In her first game of the tournament, Gabby Coffey came out with a bang. The goal defence registered a whopping 12 gains including six intercepts. The new look frontend didn’t miss a beat with Emily Andrew converting 34/38 goals at 90%. Partner in crime Claudia Mawson was damaging with ball in hand, registering a game-high 20 goal assists to accompany her 20 goals and 18 centre pass receives.
Game 4 – Fury (54) defeated GIANTS Academy (49)
Lewis had another standout performance in game four, reeling in a staggering seven intercepts, two rebounds and three deflections against the GIANTS. Ryde was instrumental once again under the post shooting 45/46 at 98% while Mundy lead the way through the midcourt with 16 goal assists and three intercepts. In her 30 minutes of court time, Mawson amassed 13 goal assists, an intercept and team-high 14 centre pass receives. Sharni Lambden was everywhere collecting five deflections and two gains in the win.
