With the Victorian Netball League set to kick off next week, Netball Victoria is pleased to announce the extension of its partnership with News Corp’s KommunityTV livestreaming platform for the competition’s next three seasons.
The new agreement will see News Corp continue as Netball Victoria’s Official Streaming and Media Partner until at least 2025.
In 2023, netball fans will be able to watch six VNL matches per round live across Netball Victoria and KommunityTV platforms.
KommunityTV will host a ‘match-up of the round’ each week, livestreaming the clash across the Championship, Division 1 and 19 & Under divisions exclusively for a subscription fee.
Netball Victoria will also continue to livestream a match-up from each round, across the three divisions, at no cost to viewers via its Facebook channel.
Every semi and preliminary final will be livestreamed across one or both of the Netball Victoria and KommunityTV platforms.
Come grand final week, the Championship match will be simulcast exclusively on KommunityTV and Kayo Freebies, and the Division 1 and 19 & Under deciders on Netball Victoria’s Facebook plus co-streaming to KommunityTV and Kayo Freebies.
“We’re excited to be continuing our partnership with KommunityTV and bringing VNL to new audiences in 2023 and beyond,” said Netball Victoria Performance Competitions Manager, Stacey O’Neill.
“As the state’s premier netball competition and a crucial step in the Victorian pathway, we know there’s significant appetite across Victoria to watch the talent on display in VNL – this partnership will help us to continue building the profile and viewership of the competition.”
News Sports Network managing director Michael Wilkins said the opportunity to partner with Netball Victoria for the second straight year was exciting.
“KommunityTV has grown a strong portfolio of netball coverage over the past 12 months, and the Victorian Netball League has been at the forefront of that growth," he said.
“Our coverage of the VNL last year was one of the first season-long partnerships signed by KommunityTV, and we are excited to connect with the Netball Victoria team again. Our streaming partnership will not only include the best Open age netballers in Victoria, but also the young athletes shooting for an opportunity to join the elite ranks of the Suncorp Super Netball.”
Netball fans can subscribe now to gain access to KommunityTV’s weekly triple header livestreams, as well as all of News Corp's editorial content. Existing subscribers will be able to access the livestreams at no extra cost.
Boasting the title of the premier netball competition in Victoria and producing countless Suncorp Super Netball stars, the Victorian Netball League is an important step in the Netball Victoria pathway for athletes, coaches, umpires and officials.
The VNL season begins next Wednesday 15 March and will run through to the finals series scheduled in July and August.
