Netball Victoria are excited and proud to be part of VicHealth’s latest This Girl Can VIC campaign, teaming up with netball Associations and local government areas to host free come and try Walking Netball and Rock Up Netball TRAIN sessions.
The Rock Up Netball TRAIN program incorporates the basic skills of playing netball in a fun and friendly environment with relaxed match play to finish. Meanwhile Walking Netball is a modified version of the traditional game at a walking pace. The sessions are a great way to participate in netball, keep active and meet new people.
For Walking Netball participant, Deanna, it was a great way to get out of her comfort zone and try something new. Deanna said, “it appealed to me because it was different to traditional netball, and I could be a good role model for my children to show them that its fine to try something new”.
“It’s a very social environment, and women are very encouraging of each other during Walking Netball because there are some women that are returning to the sport or haven’t played sport before.”.
All are welcome regardless of age, fitness level, ability or previous netball experience. If you are looking to get involved, sessions are taking place in the following locations:
Pakenham – Walking Netball Come & Try
Colac- Rock Up Netball TRAIN Come and Try
Waverley Night - Walking Netball Come & Try
