The 2023 Netball Victoria State Titles proved to be a thrilling weekend of intense competition and memorable moments as all 19 regions came together at the State Netball Centre in Parkville for the second consecutive year.
With a new division and a flurry of exciting victories, the flagship event showcased the depth of talent and camaraderie within the Victorian netball community and this year also featured the unveiling of a bronze statue of netball icon Anne Henderson.
Another highlight of this year's State Titles was the inclusion of the 17&U Male division for the first time, in place of the 15&U Mixed division previously included in 2018-19.
This step marked a notable milestone for State Titles and the male player pathway in Victoria and Henderson claimed a seven-goal win over Elmer to emerge as champions, with both sides featuring a number of Victorian state representatives.
Gippsland had their own moment of glory as they successfully defended their All Abilities Reserve title, while Western clinched victory in the All Abilities Championship division with a score of 12-6 against Barwon.
Two Bays managed to break Henderson's winning streak in the 17&U Female division, defeating Jika by five goals to go one better than their runner-up result in 2022.
In the 15&U Female division, Elmer took the win in a tight tussle against Goulburn, while Central Highlands emerged victorious against Barwon in similar fashion in the Open division.
The State Titles play a key role in the Victorian talent pathway, continually evolving and providing opportunities for emerging athletes, coaches and officials to further their development. Many Victorian state team representatives took to the court, showcasing the depth of talent coming through our pathway.
Netball Victoria congratulates all participants and champions, and thanks the umpires, officials and volunteers whose dedication and commitment were vital to making the event a success.
We look forward to taking this iconic event to Bendigo in March 2024, thanks to the support of the City of Greater Bendigo. Find out more
