Netball Victoria offers 'Introduction to Umpiring' workshops aimed at beginner umpires with some knowledge of rules but little or no umpiring experience. These workshops are practical workshop designed to complement the above online courses. Topics include characteristics of a good umpires, using the whistle and hand signals to communicate, infringements and sanctions, and umpire positioning on court. All ages welcome to participate. The 'Rules of Netball' is published by World Netball. The Rules of Netball are underpinned by core values of equal opportunity and fair contest, stipulating that player safety must always be the paramount consideration, and that standards of good sporting behaviour and mutual respect must always be upheld. The Foundation Umpire Course is an online module-based course designed to assist you in achieving the necessary skills and knowledge to be an effective umpire and enjoy your officiating role. The Rules of Netball Exam is a Netball Australia online course. The exam consists of 100 multiple choice questions, and you will have two hours to complete the exam. To pass the exam you must score at least 70%. (It is highly recommended that prior to commencing this exam you read a copy of the Rules of Netball). **The AA badge should not be seen as a “natural progression” from the A badge. It is an elite umpiring qualification reserved for candidates who display the highest levels of technical proficiency, rule understanding and game management.
