There are nine workshops available, open to all coaches:
- Introduction to Coaching
A practical workshop focuses on the background information to coaching and practical drills for coaches including coaching pathway, policies and procedures, inclusive coaching, basics of netball, planning a training session including the Change It model and 5 steps of progressions, warm up and cool downs, and drills focusing on: ball handling, footwork, attacking, defending, goal shooting and midcourt.
- Ball Handling
Understand and experience implementing the coaching points of various netball ball handling skills up to Community Coach (Intermediate) level. Practice giving and receiving effective feedback through observation and application.
- Footwork
Identify and implement skill progression and regression of the “Seven Steps of Skill Progression” & gain an understanding of, and experience implementing the coaching points of various netball footwork skills up to Community Coach (Intermediate) level.
- Game Day Coaching
Planning for effective game day coaching at the community level. Recognising age and stage of development in skill and strategy expectations. Ability to understand the roles and key attributes for each playing position, individually and in combination with other players.
- Game Sense
Participants will understand the role of “Game Sense” in developing unique tactical thinkers. They will practice asking questions and developing challenges for players to develop spatial awareness, vision, balance and voice, tactical thinking and strategic play, and decision making, initiative and uniqueness.
- General Attacking
Participants will experience a “Game Sense” approach for player development, while understanding and experiencing implementation of the coaching points for various netball attacking skills.
- General Defending
Participants will experience a “Game Sense” approach for players to develop their spatial awareness, vision, balance, and voice. Reading cues for timing, transition play from defence to attack and strategic decisions.
- Specialist Centre Court
Participants will be able to recognise the skills specific to WD, C &
WA and how to coach these skills using sequential progression in skill development. They will also understand the role of the centre court, individually and in combination with other players, and as a link between the defence and attack thirds.
- Specialist Goal Circle
Participants will be able to recognise the skills specific to GS, GA, GD
& GK and how to coach these skills using sequential progression in skill development, as well as understand the role of the circle players, individually and in combination with other players.
