Netball Victoria is seeking a proactive and hands-on Netball Development Manager to help grow netball participation across Victoria through new programs, competitions, partnerships and community engagement.
This is an exciting opportunity to work across the netball ecosystem, identify new opportunities for growth, and support the delivery of sustainable, inclusive and accessible participation initiatives across local communities

About the role
Reporting to the General Manager, Governance and Transformation, the Netball Development Manager will drive the growth and development of netball participation by helping Netball Victoria establish community programs, competitions and new formats.
You will explore and activate opportunities across the netball in the Victorian region, building partnerships, engaging local networks, and fostering sustainable participation growth and community connection.
This is a role for someone who enjoys being both strategic and hands-on. You will work closely with internal teams, associations, leagues, clubs, schools, councils, venues and community organisations to identify opportunities, bring new initiatives to life, and ensure programs are well planned, well promoted and successfully delivered.
The successful applicant will be responsible for, but not limited to:
Participation Growth and Development
Lead the activation of new Netball Victoria run programs and competitions.
Work with venues to confirm suitable locations, timeslots and delivery requirements.
Support the implementation of competition structures, schedules and workforce requirements.
Analyse local sporting landscapes to understand competitor offerings, costs and gaps in current netball opportunities.
Gather data and insights to identify targeted geographic areas or communities for development initiatives.
Identify opportunities for new programs, modified competitions and social formats to increase participation.
Monitor, evaluate and report on participation and engagement outcomes.
Deliver strong governance and competition management for new programs.
Partner with affiliates, councils, community organisations, schools and local sporting bodies to grow participation.
Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration
Work closely with Community, Stakeholder Relations, Facilities and Marketing and Communications teams to plan and promote initiatives.
Develop tailored communication and engagement plans for target areas.
Work on the ground in local communities to engage stakeholders and build relationships.
Partner with local associations, leagues and clubs to support sustainable participation growth.
Provide regular updates on progress, outcomes and recommendations.
Work cross-functionally within Netball Victoria to ensure alignment, stakeholder engagement and strategic delivery.
Leadership and Culture
Provide guidance and advice across the organisation on programs, resources and participation initiatives.
Communicate with clarity, integrity and transparency.
Role-model collaboration and teamwork across all levels.
Actively demonstrate Netball Victoria’s values of empowerment, innovation and leadership.
Foster a safe, inclusive and respectful workplace and community environment.
Represent Netball Victoria professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
What you will bring
3 to 5 years’ experience in community and/or sport development, program delivery or business development.
Proven experience building partnerships, engaging diverse stakeholders and delivering growth-focused projects.
Understanding of grassroots sport environments, with netball experience highly regarded.
Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
Strategic thinking with a hands-on approach to implementation.
Confident presentation and communication skills.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects and deliver outcomes.
A commercial mindset, with creativity to identify and activate new opportunities.
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to take ideas from concept to execution.
Passion for making sport more accessible, inclusive and sustainable.
Understanding of inclusion and diversity in sport, particularly in multicultural or all-abilities contexts.
Valid Working with Children Check connected to Netball Victoria, or willingness to obtain.
Due to the nature of this role in sport, some after-hours and weekend availability will be required.

About the role
Reporting to the Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, we are seeking an advocate with strong cultural knowledge, leadership capability and exceptional stakeholder engagement skills who can work collaboratively with First Nations communities, affiliates, partners and internal teams to drive action and create meaningful impact.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Leading the development, delivery and continuous improvement of Netball Victoria’s Innovate RAP and future RAP stages
Championing reconciliation and providing expert guidance across the organisation
Coordinating and supporting the First Nations Advisory Group and RAP Working Group
Designing and delivering programs that empower young people and communities through netball
Strengthening diversity and inclusion initiatives and participation pathways
Building strong, respectful partnerships with First Nations communities and stakeholders
Overseeing community engagement programs, clinics, events and First Nations rounds
Leading and supporting culturally respectful initiatives such as the Melbourne Vixens First Nations dress design
What you will bring:
Minimum 5 years’ experience in the First Nations environment
Relevant Tertiary qualification.
Demonstrated experience working with First Nations communities and stakeholders
Strong relationship-building, communication and engagement skills
Strategic thinking and the ability to lead programs from concept through to delivery
Experience in diversity, inclusion, community development or sport (highly regarded)
A commitment to creating culturally safe environments for children, young people and communities
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-moving environment.
Valid Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
Driver’s licence and ability to travel within Victoria.
