The Victorian Fury Coaching Panel has been finalised, with Elissa Kent and Jessica Whitford joining Head Coach, Leesa Gallard for the 2018 season.
Kent has been selected as Assistant Coach, whilst Whitford will join the team as Apprentice Coach.
Both Kent and Whitford have been selected after demonstrating their abilities in this year’s Victorian Netball League (VNL).
Kent will be a valuable addition to the Fury coaching line-up, with netball coaching experience at the elite level – she was 2017 Head Coach of Melbourne University Lightning in the Championship Division, and in 2016 helped take the team to a premiership.
An elite netballer and ANZ Championship Premiership player herself (played for the Queensland Firebirds and Melbourne Vixens), Kent was also a member of the 2011 Australian Diamonds Squad.
Whitford is also a Head Coach in the VNL, coaching the Peninsula Waves Championship Division team.
Whitford has valuable experience coaching state teams, having been Victorian 19/U Apprentice Coach, under the direction of Leesa Gallard, in 2013, and Assistant Coach in 2015.
The Victorian Fury will be aiming to claim their eigth Australian Netball League Premiership in 2018, after finishing Runners-Up in 2017.
Stay tuned for the 2018 fixture and team selection updates in the not too distant future.
