Netball Victoria would like to take this opportunity – on the day that would have been the final day of the 2020 National Netball Championships – to acknowledge the selected leaders of the 2020 Victorian state teams.
Each team has their own selection process for its leadership roles, which aligns with Netball Victoria’s State Team Selection Policy. The detail of the process is determined by each team’s Head Coach in consultation with the Netball Victoria Pathways Manager. The process this year included contributions from the players and coaching staff, with these particular athletes selected for their leadership qualities including integrity, accountability, determination, and their demonstration of Netball Victoria’s ‘Champion Way’ values.
Netball Victoria’s General Manager Vixens, Performance & Pathways, Rebekah Webster, said that the athletes selected for this year’s leadership roles exhibited both passion and pride in playing for Victoria, and are highly respected by their peers.
“It’s unfortunate these athletes will not have the opportunity to lead their teams at the 2020 National Netball Championships,” Webster said, “however Netball Victoria and the state team staff and athletes recognise that it is a special honour and responsibility to be named Captain and Vice Captain of your state representative team.”
“All of the athletes selected to leadership roles this year show genuine leadership qualities both on and off the court, and so we really wanted to take the opportunity to acknowledge those athletes selected as leaders for this year’s program.”
