Netball Victoria has today announced updates to its pathway competitions, which will see the remainder of the 2021 Victorian Netball League (VNL) season and Netball Victoria’s State Titles competition cancelled.
The announcement comes with the extended lockdown revealed this week, which poses a threat for the competitions to be played within appropriate timelines allowing for recruitment processes for 2022 competitions.
Netball Victoria will review the format of its Association Championships in the central east and central west regions, to give all age groups the best chance at competing.
Netball Victoria is committed to providing talent development and identification pathways for all athletes, coaches and umpires across Victoria and will continue to provide opportunities within the high performance pathway once netball can resume.
Netball Victoria’s General Manager – Vixens, Performance and Pathways, Rebekah Webster said:
“We’re devastated to have had to make this decision again in 2021, particularly for the players, coaches, officials and administrators who have worked hard to prepare for these events.
“Over the last two years, the Victoria netball community has been incredibly resilient, committed and able to adapt to the everchanging landscape and we very much appreciate the support and collaboration we’ve seen between Netball Victoria and the wider netball community.
“We will continue to remain engaged with Netball Victoria members with updates and online offerings to keep that passion for the sport ignited.”
