The 2024 Victorian Netball League fixture has been announced, outlining a blockbuster season to be held across 22 rounds plus three weeks of finals.
The season kicks off at the State Netball Centre on Wednesday 6 March, with Grand Finals to be held on Wednesday 7 August.
We welcome three new clubs to the competition – the Bendigo Strikers, Gippsland Stars and Western Warriors – who will all make their VNL debut in 2024.
With the Stars initially fielding a 23&Under team as they enter the league, each week their opposing club’s Championship team will have a bye.
The competition’s exciting expansion into regional Victoria will see matches travel to regional hubs, with home fixtures for the Strikers and Stars set to be played in Bendigo and Traralgon.
The action kicks off in Round 1 with Boroondara Express seeking redemption against the City West Falcons in a Championship grand final rematch.
Melbourne University Lightning and Geelong Cougars will also be looking to get their seasons off to a strong start in the new 23&U division, having claimed the 19&U and Division 1 titles last year.
Pride Round will return in Round 11 with all teams set to play at the State Netball Centre, while First Nations Round will be held in Round 14 in line with National Reconciliation Week.
The finals series begins with semi finals on Wednesday 24 July, with preliminary finals to be held the following week to decide the final match ups for the big dance.
Some familiar faces will return to the VNL next year, headlined by Sacha McDonald returning to Casey Demons after a stint playing in the UK and former Collingwood Magpie Shimona Nelson signing with City West Falcons.
