Netball Victoria has announced the 2025 captains and vice captains for the Victorian 19/U and 17/U state teams, set to compete at the National Netball Championships in Sydney this April.
Charli Hoey has been named captain of the 19/U team, with Georgie O’Brien supporting her as vice captain, while Allie Davidson and Molly Moylan have been revealed as co-captains of the 17/U side.
The Victorian state teams are the peak squads in the high performance pathway for their respective age groups, and the 2025 National Netball Championships will be a crucial opportunity for these players to showcase their talent on the national stage.
The 17/U team will look to build on last year’s bronze medal finish, while the 19/U team, who narrowly missed out on a medal last year, will be looking to right the wrongs of 2024.
19/U
Charli Hoey (captain) is a determined and skilled defender from Geelong. Having been part of the state teams since 2023 and recently travelling to the Team Girls Cup with the Melbourne Mavericks, after being announced in their SN Reserves team, Charli brings invaluable experience to the 19/U side. She captained the Victorian 17/U team in 2023 and has also represented the 19/U team in 2024 and again in 2025. Charli is known for her ability to read the game and her tenacious one-on-one pressure, making her a standout player in defence.
Georgie O’Brien (vice captain) is a dynamic defensive midcourter with a reputation for agility and resilience. With experience in both the 17/U and 19/U state teams, Georgie’s leadership qualities have been evident throughout her pathway. Her versatility on the court and defensive skill make her a key player in the 19/U side.
Adrian Ballantyne, head coach of the 19/U Victorian state team said:
"Charli and Georgie have both represented their state with incredible dedication over the years and continue to prove themselves time and time again on court, while also being the glue that’s brought this team together.
“Together they’re a very strong pairing to lead Victoria towards a successful Nationals campaign.”
17/U
Allie Davidson (co-captain) is a solid, zippy, and smart player with a strong presence on court. Allie has been part of the 17/U state team in both 2024 and 2025 and is known for her leadership and ability to unite the team. Her passion for the sport and her teammates has earned her the respect of the entire squad.
Molly Moylan (co-captain) hails from Wodonga, making the three-and-a-half-hour journey to Melbourne to train and play with the team. This will be Molly's first year in the state team, and she has already shown her commitment and leadership abilities. As a goaler, she’s known for her accuracy, timing, and strong hands under pressure. Her ability to read the game and stay calm under challenging circumstances makes her a critical asset to the team.
Jacinta Todd, head coach of the 17/U Victorian state team said:
"Allie and Molly bring different qualities to the table, but both are exceptional leaders in their own right. Allie’s inclusive nature and Molly’s commitment make them the perfect duo to lead the 17/U team at Nationals."
The teams will compete at Netball Australia’s National Netball Championships which will be played at Netball Central in Sydney from 10-16 April.
