National Reconciliation Week
May 27 to June 3 was National Reconciliation Week (NRW) #NRW2020. It is a time for everyone to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how we all can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
These dates - May 27 to June 3 - commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey; the successful 1967 Referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision.
During Reconciliation Week, like always, it is important that we acknowledge the tremendous contribution that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders have made to sport, particularly to netball in Victoria.
We know that netball has the power to promote reconciliation, enhance belonging and reduce inequality.
The theme this year is #InThisTogether so please take the time to acknowledge Traditional Owners of the Land when you have the opportunity.
To show our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities that we are #InThisTogether a personalised video from the Vixens has been created for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait communities. View the video here.

Create a Child Safe Netball Community
Netball Victoria recently held webinars for Affiliates that brought awareness to Child Safety in our netball communities and the obligations that everyone involved in Netball Victoria activities have in keeping children in netball safe. The webinar recording is now available for your review, please click here. We would also like to draw your attention to the Child Safety in Netball dedicated section on our website. Here, we have created resources, templates, posters and tools that are available for you to use and adopt as your own in becoming a Child Safe Club, League or Association.
Play by the Rules provides a free interactive online training Child Protection course. This course takes about one hour to complete and is suitable for coaches, administrators, officials, players, parents and anyone else involved in your netball communities.
