For more than 30 years, Rebekah Bogos has dedicated her time to growing and supporting netball in her community through her work with Casey Netball Association and Casey Demons VNL.
Currently serving as Chair of Casey Netball Association and President of Casey Demons VNL, Rebekah also manages the Championship team and coaches her daughter’s Under 9 side, continuing a lifelong connection to the sport that began with her own family.
From umpiring and coaching junior teams to taking on leadership and administration roles, Rebekah’s volunteering journey has evolved alongside the growth of netball in Casey. One of the standout moments in her time volunteering came when Casey Netball Association was accepted into the Victorian Netball League.
“It was a reward for our entire grassroots community, who had supported the dream from the very beginning,” she said.
“For years, volunteers, players, coaches and families had worked tirelessly to build netball in Casey and create a genuine pathway for local athletes.”
Today, Rebekah continues to play an important role in creating opportunities for the next generation of players and coaches, while also helping bring high-level netball to the local community through Casey Demons home games at Casey Stadium.
She expressed that volunteering has not only allowed her to give back to the sport she loves, but also connect with inspiring people and see firsthand the impact community sport can have.
“I would encourage others to get involved in volunteering because it is an incredibly rewarding way to give back to your community and help create opportunities for young people,” Rebekah said.
“Volunteering also provides opportunities to develop new skills, build friendships, and work alongside inspiring people who are passionate about making a difference.”
From grassroots netball to the Victorian Netball League pathway, Rebekah’s contribution continues to leave a lasting impact across the Casey netball community.
