Lara Dunkley has been named as Captain of the Victorian Fury for the 2018 Deakin University Australian Netball League.
Being the longest serving member of the team, now entering her fifth season of the ANL, Dunkley is a natural leader within the young group.
The Melbourne Vixens Training Partner said she is honoured to be Captaining the side.
“It’s such an honour to be named as Captain of the Fury for 2018, I’m really excited and can’t wait to see what this team has to bring,” Dunkley said.
“I’ve been in the Fury program for quite some time now and I think being involved in this elite program for so many years has allowed me to develop and grow as a person myself, and I can’t wait to pass that on to the younger generation.”
Dunkley will be joined by Co-Vice-Captains Mikaela Vaughan and Casey Adamson in the Leadership Team.
Vaughan injects valuable knowledge into the Leadership Group, with her experience at the NSW Swifts in 2017 as a Training Partner. Adamson, in just her second year in the team, has demonstrated strong leadership skills both on and off court.
Just over a month out from the beginning of the season, Dunkley said the team is progressing well heading into Round 1.
“The team is shaping up to look really strong for 2018. We’ve had some really solid sessions on and off the court and everyone’s putting 100% into those sessions every single time.”
“We’ve also had some personal development sessions with Eloise Southby, that’s not just helping us on the court, but also off the court as individuals and I think that’s really important for netballers these days.”
The Fury will begin their 2018 season against the NNSW Waratahs at the State Netball & Hockey Centre on 5 May.
