The Fury claimed victories over Tasmania in both matches, defeating the away side, 65-41 on Sunday, before closing out the Vixens and Magpies Queen’s Birthday thriller with a comeback win 54-48.
Fury shooter, Emma Ryde was pleased with the team’s efforts and the determination to fight back from being behind all game on Monday.
“We all felt pretty good after the win on Sunday. We expected it to be quite a close game, but to win by 24 goals was really surprising and really gave us confidence going into Monday,” said Ryde.
“Monday’s match was pretty tough. We knew their game plan was going to be completely different.
“We needed to overcome a harder, faster and stronger team; which they did come out firing. But we knew if we just grinded the game out and kept in touch with them, we always thought we could end up winning. It was a good, tough hit out.”
Sitting on the top of the ladder, a game clear of the NSW Waratahs, the Fury are gearing up for a strong finish to the season, ready to kick-start their finals campaign.
“We’ll come together for training on Friday night and work through a few things we noticed from the games on the weekend and then head to Brisbane Saturday morning for both games on Saturday and Sunday.
“The team is feeling really good. I think we are hitting our strides now and from the weekend’s game on Saturday, we probably had our best solid four quarter performance. I think if we play four solid quarters, we can beat any team in the competition.
“If we play like we did on Sunday, then we’ll have the confidence in ourselves and any combination that comes on the court, that we can go out there and do the job.”
