With over 5000 netball participants each week at the State Netball and Hockey Centre, Riverside Fairbairn Sports Precinct will host the Tuesday Premier 17/U (female), Thursday 15/U (female) and Saturday 11/U (mixed) competitions and Suncorp NetSetGO until the redevelopment is complete.
Essendon and District Netball Association will also benefit from the RFSP upgrade with their Spring season to be played at the Riverside location.
The State Netball and Hockey Centre redevelopment has been made possible with $64.6million funding from the Victorian state government – the largest investment in women’s sport in the nation’s history. The redevelopment was further supported by $1.5m towards to the RFSP upgrade from State Government, and a further $2.5m from the Moonee Valley City Council.
Netball Victoria’s General Manager – Government Relations and Affiliate Services Amanda Basu congratulated all involved in the relocating process.
“We’re thrilled to have Parkville Netball welcomed at the Riverside Fairbairn Sports Precinct while work continues on the redevelopment of the State Home of Netball – the State Netball and Hockey Centre,” said Basu.
“Together with the Moonee Valley City Council and Parkville Netball, we have successfully relocated to the new courts which will allow all participants to continue playing, coaching and umpiring netball, most of them closer to home, with 33% of PN participants residing in the MVCC area.
“I’d like to thank the Victorian government, local Essendon MP Danny Pearson, the Moonee Valley City Council, all clubs and Netball Victoria staff who have collaborated to achieve a massive milestone in the redevelopment.”
