The Victorian Netball League (VNL) will head suburban this weekend with clubs getting the opportunity to play their Round Five fixtures at their home stadiums.
Many clubs will also welcome back into their line-ups players from the Victorian Fury who defeated the Canberra Darters in the opening round of the Australian Netball League last weekend.
On Saturday, the DC North East Blaze will host the Boroondara Express at the Community Bank Stadium in Diamond Creek.
The Blaze will need to be at their best if they want to challenge Boroondara, who currently sit on top of the Championship ladder undefeated, with an average winning margin of 16-goals per match.
The Melbourne University Lightning are the other unbeaten championship team following four rounds.
They will travel to the Knox Regional Netball Centre to challenge the Yarra Valley Grammar Ariels who are chasing their first win of the season.
The Ariels have started the season better in the division one and 19/under competitions and will be looking to maintain their places in the top four with victories against the Lightning.
In arguably the most intriguing match of Round Five, the Peninsula Waves will host the Wilson Storage Southern Saints at Patterson Lakes Secondary College in Carrum.
Little has separated the two teams this season with the Saints sitting sixth and the Waves two spots further back in eight. A win for either team would likely propel them inside the top four on the Championship ladder.
In the final match on Saturday, the Monash University Storm will host the City West Falcons at Cardinia Life in Pakenham.
Since going down in the opening round, the Falcons are on a three-game winning streak to currently sit third on the Championship ladder.
They have been impressive across all three competitions to also sit second on the Division One and third on the 19/under ladders.
The VNL will continue on Sunday with the ACU Sovereigns travelling to the Christian College to take on the Geelong Cougars.
The Cougars will be looking to return to the winners list following consecutive defeats to Boroondara and Melbourne University, while the Sovereigns will be chasing their first championship victory of the year.
Netball Victoria would like to encourage everyone to get behind and support your locals clubs this weekend.
