The state’s top 25 netballers in the 19/U and 17/U age groups have been selected for Netball Victoria’s high performance program in preparation for the 2025 National Netball Championships.
The top 100 players announced last month have been reduced to squads of 25, who will be invited to take part in Netball Victoria’s high performance program, Elevate, over the coming weeks. The program provides athletes with targeted physical preparation before they’re again narrowed down to the teams of 12 set to compete at the National Netball Championships next year. The Victorian state teams will be announced in December.
Last year, the Elevate Program was piloted and saw significant improvement in athletes’ strength and conditioning ahead of selection. The program’s success has led to its official implementation for all 25 players within each squad, creating a more competitive and prepared field for Netball Victoria’s state selectors to choose from.
Last month, Adrian Ballantyne and Jacinta Todd were announced as 19/U and 17/U Victorian state team head coaches respectively, with Belinda Lees (19/U) and Sarah Mylrea (17/U) as their assistants. Find out more
