Round 12 of the Victorian Netball League commences at the State Netball and Hockey Centre on Wednesday night from 7pm AEST.
With only seven rounds remaining until finals, Round 12 shapes as a vital round for many teams who are looking to stay in touch with the top four.
On court one the Wilson Storage Southern Saints will host the Peninsula Waves.
All three matches shape as potentially season defining matches for both sides with their championship, division one and 19/under teams currently positioned mid-table.
The Boroondara Express will take on the DC North East Blaze on court two. The Blaze enter the contest full of confidence after all three of their sides triumphed against the Monash University Storm in Round 11.
The Express should prove a much tougher challenge for the Blaze in championship, however, with the side firmly entrenched inside the top four.
On court three, the Melbourne University Lightning’s championship side will be looking to return to the winner’s list against a Yarra Valley Grammar Ariels outfit who are still chasing their first victory of the season.
While the Lightning are expected to secure a comfortable championship win, the division one and 19 under clashes look set to be closer contests with both sides sitting consecutively outside the top four in both divisions.
The final fixture to take place on Wednesday night will see the Monash University Storm take on the in-form City West Falcons.
The Falcons have been the standout team in the VNL season. They currently sit first, second and third in the championship, division one and 19/under ladders.
Round 12 will conclude on Sunday when the ACU Sovereigns host the Geelong Cougars at the Wendouree Sports and Events Centre.
