With the Victorian Netball League set to kick off next week, Netball Victoria is pleased to announce a new initiative to deliver additional livestreamed matches for every round of the 2022 season thanks to News Corp.
Following the success of last year’s livestreams, netball fans will now be able to watch up to six matches per round live across Netball Victoria and News Corp platforms.
The Herald Sun platform will host a ‘match-up of the round’ each week, livestreaming the clash across the Championship, Division 1 and 19 & Under divisions exclusively for a subscription fee. An introductory offer of $1 for the first 28 days is available with no lock-in contract.
Netball Victoria will continue to livestream a match-up from each round, across the three divisions, at no cost to viewers via its Facebook channel.
“This is an exciting announcement ahead of the season, as we know there’s significant appetite across Victoria to watch the talent on display in VNL,” said Netball Victoria Performance Competitions Manager, Stacey O’Neill.
“Livestreaming was a really successful initiative for us last year – we want to make VNL matches accessible for as many viewers as possible and this new agreement will help us to do that.”
“Our partnership with Netball Victoria provides an exciting platform for the next generation of Australian Diamonds to sparkle,” News Sport Network Managing Director Michael Wilkins said.
“Women’s sport is a rapidly growing area at both the elite and grassroots level and we are proud to play an ongoing role in its future development.”
Netball fans can subscribe now to gain access to the additional weekly VNL livestreams, as well as all of News Corp's editorial content. Existing Herald Sun subscribers will be able to access the livestreams at no extra cost.
Boasting the title of the premier netball competition in Victoria, the Victorian Netball League is a crucial step in the Netball Victoria pathway for athletes, coaches, umpires and officials.
After two years of interruptions due to the COVID pandemic, Netball Victoria and the 10 VNL clubs are looking forward to a full competitive season across all three divisions in 2022.
The VNL season begins next Wednesday 16 March and will run through to the finals series scheduled in July and August.
