ONES TO WATCH
Championship
The Championship division features a top four clash between Boroondara Express and Wilson Storage Southern Saints. With both sides coming off losses in Round 11, each team will be hungry to tally some points and cement their spot towards the top of the ladder. Keep an eye out for a tantalising match-up between centres Casey Adamson and Keighley Starrett in the midcourt, with both players in excellent form this season. This round will also be treated to a battle of the shooters when Hawks Netball take on Casey Demons. Hawks’ Kaylia Stanton and Demons’ Emma Ryde, who are both in the mix for Hot Shots this year, have been unstoppable under the post and will be instrumental for their sides this week.
Division 1
Geelong Cougars and Melbourne University Lightning are chasing back-to-back wins when they face off in Round 12. Each side achieved strong victories last week; the first-placed Cougars will be hoping to solidify their position, while Lightning are eyeing off a spot in the top four. Expect to see a fiery clash between Cougars’ Kiahna Fallon and Lightning’s Monique Tarrant, who’ve both been phenomenal in the midcourt in 2023. In other matchups, City West Falcons will be looking to continue their hot form with a win against Ariels, while the Hawks are searching for five consecutive wins when they play the Demons.
19/Under
Ladder leaders North East Blaze will be hoping to tally another win when they take on Peninsula Waves. Luiza Sulemani has been a pillar in Blaze’s defence, consistently showcasing her defensive pressure and ability to cause turnovers. Third-placed City West Falcons will also be hoping to cement their current position with a win against Ariels. Tahlia Bradshaw, who has been courageous in defence for Ariels, will need to produce another strong performance to stop an in-form Holly Adams-Alcock in the circle.
