ROUND HIGHLIGHTS
Championship
- Geelong Cougars will be looking to turn the tide on a recent form slump when they take on the Peninsula Waves. The Cougars have lost their last three games by nine and 10 goals after lapses have opened up opportunities for their opponents.
- Melbourne University Lightning are sitting one win outside the top four and are coming up against Boroondara who have a shaky few rounds recently (including the bye). The two sides last met in Round 10 when Lightning defeated Express by five goals. Express will be looking to refine their combinations and strategy over the next few weeks, while also defending their spot in the top four.
23&Under
- City West Falcons and Geelong Cougars currently sit in fifth and fourth place, with both sides on nine wins. Their Round 15 match ups aren’t guaranteed wins – having beaten their opponents by narrow margins only five weeks ago - so both sides will need to pull out all stops to gain advantage over the other.
- Hayley Howard put on a show for the Saints last week, scoring 51 goals (96%) in their 10-goal win. She will be pivotal if her side is to knock off City West Falcons who are on the hunt to secure a spot in finals.
ONE TO WATCH
Charlize Gabel-Joseph – Peninsula Waves
Charlize Gabel-Joseph continues to shine for the Peninsula Waves. After a stellar 2023 season where she was awarded Hot Shot winner and named in the 19&U Team of the Year, she has remained as the pillar of the Waves’ attacking end. Quick on her feet, Gabel-Joseph can also hold on any sized defender, and her accuracy is second to none. She currently sits on top of the 2024 23&U Hot Shot leaderboard with 442 goals for the season.
