ROUND HIGHLIGHTS
Championship
- The Bendigo Strikers and Boroondara Express match looks to be the game of the round in the Championship division. Sitting in second and third respectively, both teams will be looking to continue their hot start to the season. Casey Adamson has had a strong start to the year in her return from injury and will need to be at her best again to stop Strikers’ recruit Emma Walters. Another tight tussle will be seen between Zoe Davies and Ruby Barkmeyer, who have a wealth of VNL experience between them.
- North East Blaze will be hoping to put together a performance to celebrate Ty Coppinger's 250th VNL game. The defender is a VNL stalwart and is known for her relentless pressure in defence. The Warriors will need new recruits Tayla Honey and Poppy Douglass to fire up in order to get the win over a tight knit group in North East Blaze.
23&Under
- Hawks Netball will be looking to bounce back after their Round 2 loss, when they come up against Melbourne University Lightning. Both teams were finalists in 2024 and have a mix of young guns and now experienced VNL athletes in their 2025 squads. Goaler Kate O'Dwyer has impressed so far this season, and will have another tough contest with Hawks defenders Eloise Argoon and Jasmine Hamilton.
- Peninsula Waves host the Wilson Storage Southern Saints in their first home game at Jubilee Park on Friday night. Both teams are yet to record a win in season 2025, so this shapes to be an interesting match up. It will be a shoot out at each end, with Charlize Gabel Joseph and Hayley Howard both continuing their form from last season, scoring majority of their teams’ goals.
ONE TO WATCH
Boroondara Express’ Ruby Barkmeyer is a crafty goaler with an exceptional mix of speed and precision. The regional Victorian athlete was a Vixens squad member up until the end of 2024. Barkmeyer is a key part of Boroondara Express’ attacking end - her combination with Bella Hodgson is elite, and now with Zanna Woods joining the fold, the dynamic goaling end will be tough to beat.
