ROUND HIGHLIGHTS
Championship
The new Jubilee Park Stadium in Frankston will welcome VNL matches for the first time when the Peninsula Waves host Melbourne University Lightning. The Waves will be searching for their first win of the season in front of their home crowd, while the Lightning will be looking to get back on the winners list after a low-scoring loss to Geelong Cougars last week.
23&Under
It’s a battle of east and west this week as Casey Demons take on the Western Warriors. Coached by former Melbourne Vixen Kim Borger, the Warriors’ 23&U side started the season with a win and a close loss and will be looking to build consistency across four quarters, while the Demons are chasing their first win.
ONE TO WATCH
Tara Watson has made the step up from the former 19&Under division into North East Blaze’s Championship side this season. Watson is a defensive midcourter and has appeared in several Australian and Victorian representative teams, including the 19/U national pathway squad for 2023-24, and current Victorian 19/U State team. Watson made her Championship debut in Round 11 last VNL season and earned three MVP votes in the process, making her one to keep an eye on as she looks to establish herself in the competition.
