ONES TO WATCH
Championship
Wilson Storage Southern Saints will be hoping to bounce back this week as they take on North East Blaze. Fifth-placed Saints come off a Round 6 loss, while Blaze sit in fourth after an 11-goal win. It’s tight battle towards the top of the ladder in this division, and both teams will be looking to climb their way up. Melbourne Vixens training partner Emily Andrew has averaged 30 goals at 90% accuracy across the last three rounds, so will be instrumental as the Saints chase a win.
Division 1
Sitting third on the ladder, the Hawks will be hoping to solidify their current position with another win this week against Ariels. Ariels fought hard against City West Falcons in Round 6 and will need to do the same as they play for their second victory of 2023. Round 7 will also feature a top four clash between Melbourne University Lightning and City West Falcons. Lightning have won four in a row, and with the Falcons claiming back-to-back victories it’s sure to be an entertaining match-up.
19/Under
The undefeated Falcons will be looking to continue their hot form when they take on third-placed Lightning this week. Both teams are coming off commanding Round 6 wins and while Falcons go in as favourites, Lightning will fancy their chances. The 19&U division will see another top four clash in Round 7 with the Saints taking on North East Blaze. The Saints went down by just two goals last week, while Blaze made a statement with a phenomenal 30-goal victory. They will look to continue their winning streak, but a rebounding Saints could be a challenge!
