PLAYERS TO WATCH
Championship
North East Blaze shooter and Melbourne Vixens Academy member, Georgia Moody has started her 2022 campaign off with a bang. A key component in the Blaze’s front end during the first four rounds of the season Moody will be hoping to maintain her hot streak. She provides great movement in the Blaze goal circle and is accurate when she goes to post. Moody has created a formidable partnership with fellow Blaze shooter and Collingwood training partner Nyah Allen with the pair proving almost unstoppable in the early parts of the season. Moody is dangerous from anywhere in the goal circle, not afraid to sink the long bomb. Moody will be looking to continue Blaze's run of good form when they face the Casey Demons at Casey Stadium this week.
Division One
Nyibol Akec
City West Falcons are known for their versatility and strength in the way they play and Nyibol Akec is no different. Akec who has been with the Falcons since Under 19’s, is a classy midcourter who brings that injection of speed into the Falcons centre court. She has speed to burn and a real attacking intent each time she steps out on court. Her footwork skills are outstanding and is very versatile, able to play through both centre and wing defence but can also play in wing attack when needed. Akec will be looking to bring her composure in the Falcons clash with the Peninsula Waves, with the Falcons looking to string together consecutive wins after an up and down start to the season.
19/under
Jayde Hall
Making her VNL debut with the Peninsula Waves in the Under 19’s division this season, Jayde Hall has a bright future ahead of her. At the age of 15, she brings composure and maturity to the Waves defensive end. Hall has a great read on the ball and isn’t afraid to go for the intercept. The 15 year old has created a great defensive combination with fellow defender Talia Anderson, although the combination is only young, the pair is already causing many headaches for the opposition goalers. Hall will look to continue her great start to the 2022 season as the Peninsula Waves take on the City West Falcons.
