KEY MOMENTS
Championship
- It was a thrilling contest between Hawks and ladder-leaders Boroondara Express who were forced to claw their way back from three goals down with a minute to go. Boroondara lead at the first break, but a tenacious Hawks side turned the tide in the second quarter, holding the lead for the rest of the game. Kaylia Stanton put on a show for the Hawks, but it was Bella Hodgson’s accuracy that kept Express in the game, not missing a shot in the final quarter to even the score.
- Geelong Cougars are on the up, beginning to break away from the competition with two games into the top four. Their win over Wilson Storage Southern Saints didn't come easily, but an early edge was maintained across the four quarters, pushing the Saints to tenth.
23&Under
- Gippsland Stars brought their A-game into their match against City West Falcons. The Falcons sit in third position on the ladder, and after a gripping final five minutes where scores were level, managed a five-goal win over the Stars.
- MU Lightning asserted their dominance, defeating Peninsula Waves by 21 goals. The Waves have been knocking on the door of the top four, and finals contention, but were shown by the top-two side what it will take to make it all the way this season. Lightning’s Montaya Sardi was impressive through the midcourt, navigating play in a full court effort.
