KEY MOMENTS
Championship
- Bendigo Strikers put on a performance for a home crowd at Red Energy Arena, claiming the win over Geelong Cougars. The Strikers welcomed back Meg Williams who was steady in the midcourt and contributed to a strong full court performance led by defenders Charlotte Sexton and Ruby Turner.
- An even first quarter set up what could have been a tight tussle between Melbourne University Lightning and Western Warriors, however after the first break, the Warriors felt the impact of missing key players, and couldn’t keep up with Lightning. Lightning’s combination of Caitlin Hill and Claudia Mawson secured Lightning another win.
23&Under
- Gippsland Stars clinched their second victory of the season against Boroondara Express in Frankston. In what was a tight contest for the full 60 minutes, Sophie Lecchino and Chloe Radford were clinical in the Stars’ victory. Myah Healey (36 goals at 86%) continued her hot form under the post.
- Hawks Netball continued their winning form with a hard-fought win over Peninsula Waves. Waves led by three at the main break, however the experienced Hawks pulled away in the second half to take the win by eight goals. In her 50th game for the club, Olivia Barnett was a pillar in defence, whilst Mackenzie Oracz tried her best to shut down Hawks’ talented attacking end.
- North East Blaze cemented their spot in the top four with a win over City West Falcons. Olivia Cawthray scored an impressive 41 goals at 89% and was supported well by goaling partner Dee Dee Lambert. Falcons young gun Amalani Fauonuku battled hard for her team, although the defensive pressure of Blaze, led by Ally Langdon, was too much to overcome.
