KEY MOMENTS
Championship
- MU Lightning was looking to secure a spot in the top four, but the Casey Demons didn’t make it easy. Both sides put on a strong defensive game, rolling a number of combinations across the four quarters. Vixens squad members, Lightning’s Maggie Caris and Gabby Coffey had their work cut out for them against Demons’ experienced goaler Emma Ryde. Scores were level at three quarter time and went goal for goal until the final two minutes, when a crucial intercept was converted and Lightning secured a three-goal win.
- A tight contest played out between North East Blaze and WS Southern Saints. Sam Silvester battled hard for Blaze, but the talented Jessie Grenvold in defence and shooter Emily Andrew proved themselves to be up to the challenge for the Saints, helping to secure their fifth win for season 2024.
23&Under
- Hawks Netball showed they are top of the table for a reason with a dominant performance against fourth-placed Falcons. The Hawks’ defensive pressure from Olivia Barnett and Emma Storey turned plenty of ball over, creating scoring opportunities for Hannah Keane and Jess Tetley who is currently in second place on the Hot Shot leaderboard.
- Boroondara Express bounced back after their Round 12 loss with a convincing win over Peninsula Waves. With all 12 athletes getting a run, Boroondara’s Chelsea Quinn led the charge with a best on court performance scoring 35 goals at 97% accuracy.
- Bendigo Strikers were out to even the ledger in their second match-up against new regional rivals, the Gippsland Stars. An even contest across the court saw Gippsland take an early lead, however Strikers proved too good and managed a 10-goal victory. Strikers’ Mackenzie O’Dwyer, who represented Victoria at the National Netball Championships back in April, played out a best on court performance.
