KEY MOMENTS
Championship
- Hawks Netball withstood a second-half comeback from Boroondara Express to claim a five-goal victory in a tightly contested clash. The Hawks’ defensive pairing of Kirsty Clark and Chloe Duke caused chaos for Express feeders, with the Hawks’ goalers capitalising at the other end. Ruby Barkmeyer was a standout for Express, not only leading the way in attack but also applying strong defensive pressure with her hands-over presence contributed to multiple turnovers and valuable deflections.
- North East Blaze have continued their momentum with a dominant performance over the Gippsland Stars. Blaze took full control, showcasing their defensive strength and composure to run out convincing victors. Despite vigorous efforts from Ramayer Gourley and Sally Deller, the Stars were unable to convert with inaccuracy under the post. In the midcourt, youngster Taiysha Wallis impressed with her spatial awareness and precise feeding into the circle, playing a key role in Blaze’s attacking flow.
- The Bendigo Strikers secured a win over the Peninsula Waves with a consistent and composed four-quarter performance. An early 11-goal run set the tone for the match, with the Strikers taking advantage of some positional changes from the Waves to take full control. Waves goaler Lauren Spinks stood tall in the shooting circle with 26 goals at 83%, while Cassandra Grigoriadis brought drive and intensity through the midcourt against a challenging Strikers outfit.
23&Under
- After trailing by eight goals at the final break, the Casey Demons pulled off a thrilling comeback to claim a one-goal victory in the dying moments of the match. Despite the loss, Warriors shooters Ella Closter (43 goals, 93%) and Ebony Porter (14 goals, 82%) were standout performers, consistently finding the post and keeping their side in the contest.
- Peninsula Waves turned the tables to get the win over the Bendigo Strikers with a goal on the siren. A last-second penalty handed Charlize Gabel Joseph the opportunity to seal the match—and she delivered, securing a much needed win for the Waves. Shae Clifford was essential for the Strikers, feeding the circle with confidence and precision, with Jorja Clode able to pull in the ball under immense pressure.
- Melbourne University Lightning delivered a commanding four-quarter performance to claim the win over City West Falcons. It was a close start with the Lightning leading by one goal at the first break, but they quickly extended the margin to eight, a gap the Falcons struggled to close. Akira McCormack’s playmaking skills opened the Lightning attack line with Millie Hogg’s speed and ability to hit circle edge a headache for the Falcons defenders. Manon Muir was a standout in her 23&Under debut, bringing physicality and fearlessness through the Falcons midcourt as she fought hard to win possession for her side.
- The Southern Saints have won their second game of the season with a convincing win over the Geelong Cougars. Steady hands and 49 goals (98%) from Hayley Howard gave the Saints midcourt the confidence on the feed with great supply by Ellarnah Hanlen.
