KEY MOMENTS
Championship
- Perfection is the only way to describe City West Falcons goal shooter Jane Cook, who shot 86 goals at 100% accuracy against the Peninsula Waves. Chelsea Imanisani and Matilda McIntyre were workhorses in the midcourt, sighting only the shooter – who left just three goals for her partners in the circle. Despite the onslaught, the winless Waves posted their second-highest score for the year.
- North East Blaze jumped to second on the ladder after a six-goal win over Hawks Netball. Blaze put on a four-quarter performance, led by goalers Georgia Moody (16 goals, 70%) and Sam Silvester (42 goals, 84%) and turned over plenty of ball through goal defence Tayissa Coppinger. The defender played an important role in stunting the feed into prolific Hawks shooter Kaylia Stanton, who was limited to 30 goals at 86%.
- Geelong Cougars keep their season alive after a hard-fought win over third-placed Boroondara Express, 58-51. Cougars goal attack Emma Buwalda (24 goals, 75%) was serviced well by centre Ally O’Connor, and goal keeper Brooke Allan turned over a mountain of ball to keep their noses in front for most of the match.
23&Under
- North East Blaze have dealt Hawks Netball their first loss of the 2024 season with a dominant 60-minute effort. Spearheaded by goal shooter Olivia Cawthray (46 goals, 92%) and a dynamite defence, Blaze opened the lead to nine goals at three-quarter time and managed to hold off a final quarter fight-back from the Hawks.
- Bendigo Strikers kept their home crowd entertained with a two-goal win over the Western Warriors on Sunday. Wing attack Shae Clifford was at her best in a game or inches – her feeds and speed through attack was crucial to breaking away in the final quarter.
- Casey Demons put on a show for their fans at Olive Road on Monday night, defeating Gippsland Stars by 15 goals. Holly Stephens (28 goals, 85%) and Piuti Laban (20 goals, 83%) continue to build on their goaling partnership, whilst Ella Rees was a pillar in defence.
