KEY MOMENTS
Championship
- North East Blaze and Hawks Netball played out a tight 60-minute contest, with the margin never breaching four goals. Blaze came out on top by two goals with a great performance by Georgia Moody in her 50th game for the club, whilst Kaylia Stanton put on another shooting masterclass, scoring 38 of Hawks’ total of 53.
- Taylah Brown put on a stellar performance for Boroondara Express in her 100th game for the club. All 11 players took to the court across the 60 minutes, continuing their winning streak with seven straight wins to start the 2024 season.
- City West Falcons are proving to be a team to beat, recording the largest margin of the season so far with a 51-goal win over Peninsula Waves. The Falcons’ rotation of Sophie Hanrahan, Sussu Liai and Melissa Oloamanu in defence was too much for the Waves, along with accurate shooting from goalers Uneeq Palavi (100%), Jane Cook (98%) and Shimona Jok (93%).
23&Under
- Peninsula Waves and City West Falcons played out a thrilling game, with a Waves goal after the siren securing 1-goal victory. 2023 Hot Shot winner Charlize Gabel-Joseph was on fire under the post, whilst Molly Kennedy continued her fantastic form over the first 7 rounds.
- In a battle of the two new Championship teams, Bendigo Strikers got the points against Western Warriors, their first win for the season.
- In another close game, MU Lightning was able to fight off a fast-finishing Saints outfit to take a 3-goal victory. Kirby Elliot created havoc in defence, with her performance creating much-needed turnovers for her side. Hayley Howard tried hard to get her side over the line, scoring 33 goals at 87%.
- Casey secured their second win in a row with a brilliant full court performance against the Gippsland Stars. Malia Seumanutafa and Holly Stephens were unstoppable under the post, shooting at 79% and 81% respectively. Chloe Radford and Paris Dunkley fought hard, but the experienced Casey outfit was too strong.
