Netball Connect
Hidden Profiles and hidden statistics
Shortly, player statistic data recorded in your competition will be available on the Netball Connect App, for all users to view. Players under the age of 18 will need to undergo a manual step to consent to their statistics to be visible on the Netball Connect app. A player/parent can sign into the Netball Connect webpage -> select the ‘Statistics’ tab in their User profile -> turn off ‘hide my name from public view for Statistics’
Live Scoring
Netball Connect offers Live Scoring. Live Scoring is more than just a novelty, it’s a really effective way of reducing the time spent manually entering scores, statistics and match data, which would generally be done the following day that matches have been played.
Live Scoring allows a scorer to simply record all of the data that would generally be tracked on a paper scoresheet, off of their own (or provided) device. To see Live Scoring in action, click here.
See a few of the FAQ’s for Live Scoring below.
- Our stadium has poor internet connectivity. How can we live score if we can’t connect to WIFI?
- Netball Connect offers an automatic offline scoring function. The assigned scorer can score the match, even when out of WIFI/data range. As soon as this scorers device is back in WIFI/data connectivity, the match results will be available for all to see
- What if there’s a dispute for the final scores?
- Before a scorer confirms the final scores after the match has ended, they will be asked to confirm that the scores are correct. If the scores are incorrect, or there is a dispute, then the scores can be edited accordingly.
- Alternatively, if there is score dispute after the scores have been confirmed, the Competition Organiser can manually change the match scores via the Netball Connect Match Day module.
- Our Association usually has two scorers at any one time.
- Live Scoring will not change the number of scorers that you can have. Both scorers can be standing/sitting next to each other during the game. One scorer will be entering the scores, whilst the other can ensure that the correct scores are being entered.
To discuss Live Scoring further, reach out via the Netball Connect ticket system.
Replicate Competition
Replicating previously completed competitions is a quick and easy method of setting up your next season. By replicating your competition, you can retain and change any of your setup from the previous season. Resultingly, invitees who had participated in the previous season will have their fee’s, discounts and registration form prepopulated, with the ability to make any necessary changes.
Click here to see more on replicating a competition.
Second Season Support
In preparation for setting up your next season, you may feel that you need a Netball Connect refresher. Click here to see the Netball Connect resources created by Netball Victoria. Additionally, reach out to your Netball Victoria Participation Team Member to setup a time to get any additional training that you feel you would benefit from.
Recent Updates:
- Ability to search by User ID number - User Dashboard
- Ability to search by Match ID number - Match Day > Competition Details > Matches
- Team invite registrations status updating from "Invited" to "Registered"
- Ladder form calculations can now be done by division
- Registration Change - players no longer have the option to deregister themselves, this can be actioned through Club, Association, League Administrators. Click here for information on processing de-registrations.
- Best on Court (Media Report), and additional Voted Awards - Best and Fairest now available in Match Day.
- Replicate Competition - If you are about to setup your next season, click here to view the process of replicating a previous competition, this will save a heap of time in setup, both at association and club level.
Live Scoring - Often times the allocated scorer may not know all the players on court and the positions they are playing which can make position tracking tricky for them. One solution to this is for the Team managers to do the position tracking for the game and leave the allocated scorer to focus on scores for the games.
Activating Finals - Association and Leagues will be coming to the end of their round matches. It is time to start thinking about activating finals in Netball Connect. Once you have published your finals format via the Competitions Module and published into Match Day, and your regular season has concluded, you will need to ‘Activate’ your finals matches.
Select the Match Day module -> Competition of interest -> hover over ‘Competition Details’ and select ‘Matches’ -> Hover over ‘Action’ and select ‘Activate Finals’ -> you can adopt to activate the finals matches for all of your divisions, or just particular divisions (i.e, different age groups). The activation of finals will pull the data from your ladders, and slot these teams into the finals template that you have selected. This info will then be available in the Netball Connect app and your fixture.
State Wide Borrowing - Match Day > Settings.
“Allow Players to be borrowed from any Competition and any Organisation” – This is ‘State-wide borrowing’. If a comp organiser selects this, a player can be borrowed if they have current Netball Victoria Player membership. They do not have to be registered to the competition or club they are ‘filling in’ for.
“Allow Players in this Competition only to be borrowed by the Organisation they are registered to” – Player MUST be registered to the club they are playing for to be in the borrow player list (i.e. If I’m registered to Club A at Parkville, Club B at Parkville won’t be able to borrow me, but Club A will be able to).
“Allow Players in this Competition to be borrowed by any Organisation in this Competition” – Player must be registered to the Competition, to any club/team, to be borrowed by any other team (i.e. if I’m registered to Club A at Parkville, Club B will be able to find me in their borrow list).

SALT Webinar
Sport and Life Training are hosting an 8-part webinar series from June until July. See below for detailed information on the sessions from SALT.
We know clubs face challenges. This webinar series empowers clubs to analyse current practices and seek areas of improvement to ensure a stronger and more sustainable club into the future. Research confirms that people are generally more connected in their sporting clubs than they are anywhere else outside of their family. In sessions that we run at SALT (Sport and Life Training), we have heard it said many times, 'This club is my family' or even, 'I haven't even told my family this, but I am telling you.'
Clubs with Heart is 8 online sessions of 75 minutes apiece, delivered over 6 months that involves on-going support and guidance to clubs who sincerely wants to become real communities of care and respect. This invitation is open to a maximum of 50 clubs.
The cost/investment is $1,000 per club to partake in the whole 8 online seminars, over 6 months. This cost covers all 8 seminars.
As well as learning from us, we will have expert guests and clubs will learn from each other, as we share stories and insights into how to become a great club; a club that is courageous, respectful, resilient, and caring.
The webinar series will address essential issues for creating Clubs with Heart. The sessions will be very interactive, and you will hear about some terrific initiatives that have already begun from the other clubs involved. We need to learn from each other, from different environments, lived experiences and different sports.
It’s important that we get only 3-4 people from your club who are fully dedicated to the process. The attendees could consist of:
- A club wellbeing representative
- A female influencer within the club
- 1-2 other club committee members
