Contacts in Stripe
Where possible, ensure that your Organisation has more than one contact in Stripe.
If your Organisation only have one contact in Stripe, and that contact is to leave the Organisation, it can become quite a difficult process to rectify.
If your Organisation only has one Stripe contact and you would like to update this, or if you would like to check how many contacts your Organisation currently has in Stripe, employ the following.
The person who is currently a Stripe contact selects the Finance Module in Netball Connect -> select ‘Payment Gateway’ and then ‘Stripe Dashboard’ -> from here, edit your account settings and update the list of Users.
Creating Draws in Netball Connect Refresher

Clearances
The most recent Netball Connect update includes the functionality of clearances. You will find the number of clearances that are available to your organisation for review in the Home module Dashboard page.
If it is common practice for your organisation to use clearances to review player movement, click here to access the processes doc for completing a clearance, and click here to access the clearance checklist.
If clearances have not previously been a part of your organisation’s operations and you do not plan to use them, you can opt to ignore clearances as they populate. Alternatively, you can follow the process doc above to list clearances as ‘not required’.
For any questions, contact your Competition Organiser, Netball Victoria Participation Team Member, or use the ticket system in Netball Connect.
Registrations made using Direct Debit payments.
Individuals who register themselves, or a family member using Direct Debit will list in your Registration and Finance module as ‘Pending’ until their payment has been cleared by their bank. The same will occur for your affiliated clubs.
It can take up to 7-10 days for this approval to occur. Note that Credit/Debit card payments are instantaneous and will not list as pending (unless the payment potentially fails due to insufficient funds/incorrect card details).
Note that users who are registered using Direct Debit payments should NOT register again, if they see that their registration is listing as pending. This will see the user pay for a second lot of Netball Victoria Membership fees.
Child Safety
Tip of the Month! Compliancy.
Upload the Netball Australia Child Safe Practices link to your website. Ensure that administrators, staff and volunteers, officials and those in positions of authority understand how the Child Safe Practices affect them, and that they understand their responsibility under the Practices. Ask that these individuals sign and upload a Child Safe Practices Declaration Form to your organisational dropbox, and email address, or the documents section of their Netball Connect profile. Note that these resources related to the Child Safe Practices Declaration Forms and Fact Sheets can be accessed from the Netball Victoria Child Safeguarding Resource Hub.
It is important to keep a record of those who have and have not completed the declaration form.
VicSport 11 Child Safety Standards Learning Modules
VicSport have developed an Online Education Program to assist the Victorian sporting community to implement and understand the 11 Victorian Child Safe Standards. The free and interactive program is designed to guide sport administrators, volunteers, coaches and/or officials through the Standards.

Connecting Volunteers
Sporting volunteers – at any level – are busy. They are faced with multiple competing priorities. They are the givers that keep on giving and are widely recognised as the backbone of sport. They are the engine room that makes game day go ahead.
But with so much on, how good of a job is done to support, retain and recognize volunteers? Can a better job be done? Imagine if there was a way for volunteers to share tips and tricks of the trade with one another, that could then be applied in their own workspace. Even a change so small can still have a massive effect!
VicSport, Regional Sport Victoria and Volunteering Victoria have recognised this gap. Backed by the State Government, they are creating tools and sharing ideas aimed at supporting clubs throughout Victoria to manage their volunteer programs as effectively as possible.
Their aim is to compile short videos with a range of real-life stories about volunteering from Clubs and individuals who are living the experience. These videos will then be shared with other Clubs throughout Victoria, so that they gain the benefit of these tips and ideas.

The Volunteers Toolkit
The Sport Volunteer Project has been created to support all sporting organisations in Victoria by providing resources and tools easily applicable to their volunteer programs.
Click here to access a dedicated Sport Volunteers webpage, which is home to a full range of factsheets, toolkit items, and case study videos (when available). The website is hosted and supported by Volunteering Victoria.
Stronger Communities
The Stronger Communities Program is a small grant that funds small capital projects of up to $20,000 to improve community participation, vibrancy and viability through new or ungraded facilities and equipment. It is one of the few grants for facility improvements that can be applied for directly by a sporting organisation (most facility grants can only be applied for by your council).

- Scoreboards, scoring systems
- Goalposts
- TV, video, audio systems
- IT & computer equipment (devices for live scoring)
- Kitchen, canteen upgrades, painting
- Equipment storage enclosure
- Perimeter fencing
- PA/speaker system
- Point of Sales (POS systems)
- Shade marquees, shelters, verandas, roofs
- Lights
- Seating
The minimum grant/project cost is $2,500 with a maximum of $50,000 total project cost.

Harmony Week
Let’s celebrate Harmony Week on the 21st of March! Harmony day epitomizes inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging.
Netball Victoria will celebrate Harmony Week at the State Netball Hockey Centre with a morning tea and guest speaker, starting at 10:00 AM. Should you like to attend, you will hear from past Western Bulldogs Community Foundation CALD players, Achan Tong!
If you cannot attend, Netball Victoria encourages your organisation to celebrate in your own way!

Umpires and Coaches
Association Championships
A reminder ahead of the Association Championships in May and June that all coaches must register through Netball Connect and hold a minimum Development Coach Accreditation. For more information about upcoming practical workshops, click here.
Testing Meetings
Testing Meetings are underway for 2023. Click here to access the registration link. Please share the registration link with your testers, umpires, coordinators or anyone interested in the badging process. All testers must be included on the Endorsed Testers list to test in Victoria.
Walking Netball
Walking Netball is a modified version of the traditional game that is fully inclusive, allowing anyone to participate regardless of their age, fitness level, ability or previous experience. The emphasis of the game is on participation, rather than competitiveness and winning.

Single-Use Plastics Ban
Did you know that from 1 February 2023, all problematic single-use plastics will be banned from sale or supply in Victoria? The ban applies to business and organisations including not-for-profits, government, sport clubs and schools.
Single use plastic drinking straws, cutlery, plates and drink stirrers are included in the ban, along with food service items and drink containers made from expanded polystyrene.
Netball Victoria’s Environment Working Group welcomes the move and encourages those affiliates who are running canteens to review some of the environmental practices in their clubs, associations or leagues, to ensure they are complying with the new regulations.

Netball Victoria is committed to promoting and protecting the rights of children and preventing abuse from occurring by fostering a culture where children feel safe and empowered.
We also seek to ensure the cultural safety of First Nations children, children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds and children with a disability.
Marie Little Shield
Player registrations for 2023 Marie Little Shield are now open.
Netball Victoria invites you to come and trail for the Victorian Marie Little Shield squad for 2023. Marie Little Shield OAM is a netball championship and opportunity for women with an intellectual disability to compete at a national level. Trials will be held at the State Netball Centre – Parkville (10 Brens Drive, Parkville 3052) on Sunday 23rd April from 10am-12pm & Sunday 30th April from 1pm-3pm. Players are required to attend both trial sessions to be eligible for the team.
Players must fit the following criteria to be eligible:
- Female
- Have an intellectual impairment
- A current member of a Member Organisation
- Aged 16 years or older, in the year the competition is held
