Netball Victoria and the Melbourne Vixens have announced a new partnership with McCafé to provide support to netball clubs and associations from grassroots to the elite.
The partnership will support a range of new initiatives, including access to equipment and resources, that will help netball remain the state’s number one team sport for females.
McCafé, a long-standing supporter of community sport across Australia, will be a major partner and Official Coffee Partner, helping to fuel the growth of community and elite netball in 2021.
McCafé will be the presenting partner of the Melbourne Vixens Association/League Membership, an initiative providing support and new opportunities at grassroots level at no cost to the netball community.
McCafé’s backing has enabled the relaunch of the program in 2021, which includes:
- Provision of equipment, with each association or league receiving 10 new netballs
- Tickets to Melbourne Vixens games and giveaways
- Increased exposure and grassroots profiling through an ‘association/league of the round/week program’
- Co-branded signage for display – helping league and association members to make their venues more welcoming and inviting
The partnership will also support the roll-out of Netball Victoria’s brand-new digital platform, Netball Connect, which is being specifically developed for the Victorian netball community. With improved modern technology, it will provide the entire netball family with a much easier user experience to manage, score, play and watch netball.
Netball Victoria and the Melbourne Vixens will join a number of Victorian AFL clubs, Basketball Victoria, and Melbourne City FC as local sporting partnerships of the brand.
Thousands of barista-made coffees are ordered at McCafé’s every Saturday morning - a ritual that resonates with the netball community, with participants of 180 associations and leagues regularly braving all conditions with a hot drink in hand at courts across Victoria.
Netball Victoria and Melbourne Vixens CEO, Rosie King welcomed the new initiatives that the partnership will help deliver for the Victorian netball community.
“Supporting the Victorian netball community’s return to court is our priority for 2021 and we’re thrilled that this partnership will help all levels of our game to recover and thrive,” said King.
Brad McMullen, McDonald’s Market Director – Southern Region, shared in the excitement by adding, “Playing an active role in Australian communities is something that’s important to everyone at McCafé. We’re proud to be partnering with Netball Victoria and the Melbourne Vixens to help connect fans to the game they love and encourage more people to support and enjoy netball.”
