The Victorian football/netball partnership has a long and proud history in country areas across the state, often being the strongest connector in the community, bringing people together to enjoy all that sport has to offer.
The partnership has been healthy and productive at a state level when both organisations work together on opportunities such as the country football & netball program facility grant. However, both Netball Victoria and AFL Victoria believe that we can reach even better community outcomes by strengthening the partnership through joint strategies and initiatives to better support our regions, leagues and at local club level.
In agreeing on this need to work closer together, Netball Victoria and AFL Victoria, with the support of Sport & Recreation Victoria have recently signed off on a Terms of Reference for a project that will examine best structure/arrangements to support strong and sustainable football/netball clubs playing in football/netball leagues across the state.
Both sports have agreed to engage a consultant to undertake the project, with the intent that consultation with leagues/commissions will occur prior to the end of the season and recommendations provided in early 2020.
