Netball Victoria is excited to announce that it has joined forces with the Sports Environment Alliance (SEA).
SEA is committed to do more for the world with less footprint, so that we can continue to have places to play the sports we love. SEA finds value in sharing knowledge and building networks to enhance the industry’s engagement in the clean economy to more effectively manage the changes in our natural environment.
As the governing body of netball in Victoria, Netball Victoria are proud to join a host of other sporting organisations as members of SEA, including the AFL, Tennis Australia and Cricket Australia.
On welcoming Netball Victoria to the SEA network, Executive Director, Dr Sheila Nguyen, said that she was delighted to have Netball Victoria join their network of members committed to protecting the places where we play our sport.
“Netball Victoria has the desire and aspiration to make change and their work will make a positive environmental impact for all communities,” Dr Nguyen said.
“Their willingness to embrace a more sustainable environmental transformation is fantastic, and we’re really excited to be part of the journey with them.”
Netball Victoria CEO, Rosie King, said that the organisation is thrilled to align with an organisation that drives such an important message.
“Netball Victoria aims to set a trend where key sporting organisations look forward to the environmental legacies they will leave behind, a journey which will be supported by SEA,” King said.
“It is not necessarily about implementing drastic, organisation-wide change, but rather embracing a more sustainable future by considering how our business decisions may impact our environmental footprint.”
“This could include the use of solar lighting and recycled plastic courts in the development of new facilities, developing promotional materials and giveaways from recycled materials, and assisting affiliates who are interested in becoming carbon neutral,” King added.
