Round 2 of the Victorian Netball League (VNL) begins this Wednesday, headlined by three 2016 finals rematches.
The Championship and 19/U divisions will see rematches of its 2016 preliminary finals, between the City West Falcons and DC North East Blaze, while Division 1 will see a semi-final rematch between the same teams.
There will be many thrilling match-ups throughout the divisions, with Blaze Captain, Ella Bayliss, coming up against Molly Jovic, and 2016 Championship MVP from the Falcons, Maggie Lind.
Division 1 will also see a 2016 MVP in action, with Emily Post taking to the court for the Falcons. The19/U division sees a fantastic line up for the Blaze, with four of their players among those named in the 2016 19/U Team of the Year.
This round, four teams will also hit the road for their matches, with Monash University Storm and Wilson Storage Southern Saints heading to Pakenham, and the Ariels and ACU Sovereigns playing at Knox. It is a split round, with games being played not only on Wednesday 3 May, but also over the weekend (Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 May).
In Division 1, Melbourne University Lightning defenders, Tiffany Barnard and Madeline Smith, will have their work cut out for them against Boroondara Express – after their shooter, Ella Bertacchini, shot 43 goals in her team’s Round 1 match.
The action will get underway in the Championship division with second and third placed Peninsula Waves and Geelong Cougars doing battle. Division one will open with the 2016 semi-final rematch.
