Stakes will be high in the Preliminary Finals this Saturday at the State Netball Hockey Centre, as teams fight for the final positions in the grand final matches.
Championship
DC North East Blaze v Geelong Cougars
2017 matches:

- Round 18, Blaze 54 def by 60 Cougars
It has been just over a week since these two teams played last, contesting the final round of the regular season.
Cougars are the most recent victors of the two, holding off a strong fightback from the Blaze to win by six goals in Round 18.
Keep an eye on Micaela Wilson and Mary Livesey in defence for the Blaze, against dynamic shooter duo Kate Thompson and Julie Woolley as a key match-up for this must-win clash.

Prepare for a shootout in this preliminary final clash, with both the Blaze and Falcons boasting dominant shooters.
Rebecca Colwell for the Blaze and Tharjini Sivalingan for the Falcons both scored over 50 goals that last time these two teams played, back in Round 14.
Colwell shot 51 goals from 55 attempts for the match, whilst Sivalingan scored 52 from 59.

City West Falcons v Melbourne University Lightning

Both teams are coming-off two hard-fought matches in the semi-finals.
The Lightning claimed a come-from-behind win to keep their finals alive, whilst the Falcons went down in a one-goal thriller against the Geelong Cougars.
The Lightning have not lost a match since Round 8, claiming 10 wins and a draw since their last loss.
The Falcons also boasted a solid unbeaten run, with Wednesday nights’ defeat by the reigning premiers their first loss since Round 11.
The preliminary finals begin 5pm on Saturday 12 August at the State Netball Hockey Centre.
