Interact Sport and MyNetball Contract Announcement
In late 2018 Netball Australia commenced a project to determine whether Interact Sport would continue to provide the MyNetball registration and competition management solution at the end of the current agreement (December 2020). Netball Victoria have been part of the national process, whilst at the same time, have been reviewing other options as a stand-alone State based solution which has involved user testing, vendor submissions and presentations, and subcommittee meetings to discuss the options and to put forward a recommendation to the Netball Victoria board.
Netball Australia has advised it’s Member Organisations the contract with Interact Sport will not continue and the national vendor of choice is PlayHQ. Netball Victoria’s subcommittee unanimously agreed and proposed to the Board that the risk of committing to move to an unfinished, untested national vendor (PlayHQ), is too high to consider at this time and we will therefore enter into an agreement with the current MyNetball vendor – Interact Sport to continue to provide our registration and competition management system until the end of 2021. Once the other options have been further developed and additional information is available, a decision to transition to the national vendor will be considered.
A robust process is currently in place to ensure the platform we choose is the right one for our Netball Community in Victoria. Three options have been considered by the Netball Victoria subcommittee to date, one of which has been eliminated due to the product not meeting key criteria including “ease of use” through the testing process. Of the other two options World Sport Action (WSA) and PlayHQ, both are in the development phase and we will continue to work closely with both vendors as we move toward making a final recommendation to the NV Board. Netball Victoria has identified the importance of seeking feedback and guidance from our affiliates during this process and as such a cross section of Associations and Leagues have been invited to view both platforms and their observations and opinions will be carefully considered.
Whilst we are very excited about what the future holds in this space we will continue to navigate our way through the process and take the necessary time to ensure we reach the right decision. Netball Victoria will continue to update and inform our Netball Community the status of this project. In the mean time if you have any questions please contact a member of the Affiliate Services team.
Child Safety in a COVID-19 Environment
With restricted numbers in place in order to reduce the risk of spreading covid-19 means less parental supervision and observation of children in your communities. It is important to keep this in mind when you are planning your return to play. Consider how children will use your facilities, ie bathroom visits, pickup, drop off, who will be supervising. It is more important than ever to discuss these considerations with coaches and team managers so they have child safety at the forefront of their minds. Now more than ever we need to build that strong culture to ensure everyone is doing their part in ensuring children are kept safe.
Prepare: Review policies and codes of behaviour. Ensure they are designed to protect young children and clear expectations are set out for coaches, parents, players, umpires etc.
Engage: Ask your entire community for input into what their concerns are.
Educate: Make it clear that the community knows how to access Child Safe Policies and encourage them to call out behaviour or concerns they have and who they can report to.
Respond: be aware of reporting, how can you minimise further harm or isolation if a child is vulnerable.
Visit the Netball Victoria Child Safety section on our website for policies, codes of behaviour, templates and resources all available for you to use for your association/league.

From the Sidelines
Have you seen our new 'From the Sidelines' monthly newsletter for our coaches, umpires and bench officials? While we've been off the court during the COVID-19 pandemic, it's required us at Netball Victoria to change our delivery of coaching and umpiring courses and workshops. It's made us further develop the offerings to the netball community and the way we work with and communicate with you, our netball workforce.
There's no doubt everyone on the sidelines is extremely important to ensuring the game of netball is great. They provide an experience to many people, young and old, who we want to love the game as much as we do. It was for this reason, Netball Victoria wanted to engage more directly with our coaches, umpires and bench officials with information specific to what they do for the game of netball.
We hope you use this information to further enhance your capacity and capability from the sidelines as a coach, umpire and bench official. As associations and leagues please let your coaches, umpires and bench officials know about the newsletter. To be added to the mailing list please e-mail workforce@netballvic.com.au.
